As one of only two existing Bauhaus market buildings in Hong Kong, The Central Market is one of Hong Kong’s oldest wet markets and an architectural landmark. After going through a contemporary renovation, it has reopened to the public on Aug 23, 2021 and ERCO is proud to be part of the project to bring light to the Central Market.
The entrance to Central Market is lit by Compact, creating a "welcome mat" created by light. The constrast of brightness level compared to the Main Street grab people's attention and make people want to enter instinctively.
The Bridge overlooking the main plaza is lit with Beamer. Using an oval light distribution means you can light up more floor space with lesser light fixtures. The light serves as a directional guide along the path as well. (PS, Looking for the same solution? Check out the new and upgraded Beamer!)
Buildings for public administration, educational facilities, theatre, congress centres, railway stations and airports: their architecture, equipment and condition reflect the needs and reality of a society. Creating new features or maintaining existing structures provides both opportunities and responsibilities for planners and designers. Care and quality in all planning aspects are decisive. Light assumes much more than just functional tasks – it also determines the character and representative symbolic force of public buildings.
Allow us to approach your new project together.
