Economic factor and civic statement: the new "Thier-Galerie" shopping centre in Dortmund's city centre. ERCO LED lighting tools underline its striking appearance.
The new, attractive shopping centre on the site of the former Thier brewery in Dortmund was developed under the direction of ECE Projektmanagement as the competent operator of the complex. In a central location, the building provides over 33,000 m² of additional sales area in the centre of the Westphalian metropolis. Attractive architectural elements include an authentically reconstructed historical façade facing the Westenhellweg shopping street along with an interior design that reminds of a "house in a house". The lighting designers of KOBER Lichtplaner in Dortmund had made it their task to create a pleasant ambience inside by combining daylight with accent lighting, but primarily to make a mark on the cityscape with striking scenographic effects on the building shell.
At night, the metal cladding with its golden shimmer is effectively set off by grazing light produced by Focalflood LED façade luminaires. The building morphs into a stunning landmark on the cityscape - and still requires a minimum of energy and maintenance thanks to ERCO's LED technology.
Designed in penthouse style, the uppermost floors of the new building are used as parking space. Cladding made of warm-tone, perforated metal lends a sense of elegance and lightness to the building.
