Located in the Palais de Tokyo, the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris (MAM) is a significant museum for modern and contemporary art. Since its founding in 1937, the museum has housed approximately 15,000 works from the 20th and 21st centuries, including masterpieces by Picasso, Braque, Delaunay and Dufy. The MAM offers a diverse array of exhibitions, events and workshops designed to enhance the understanding and appreciation of modern art.
A particular highlight of MAM is the Dufy Room, which features the monumental painting “La Fée Électricité” by Raoul Dufy. Created for the 1937 Paris World Exhibition, this remarkable work consists of 250 panels and stretches across a 600-square-metre U-shaped wall. It narrates the story of electricity from ancient times to modern advancements, observed by the Olympic gods.
Since 2006, “La Fée Électricité” has been illuminated by ERCO wallwashers, initially utilizing fluorescent technology. The recent modernization has elevated the presentation to a new level. Eclipse LED spotlights and wallwashers with tunable white, controlled wirelessly via Casambi Bluetooth, allow for flexible adjustments of the lighting mood. This modern lighting technology beautifully highlights the artistic details of Dufy’s work, creating a dynamic and captivating atmosphere.
