Photopic vision is also known colloquially as day vision. In contrast to scotopic vision (night vision) and mesopic vision (twilight vision), photopic vision consists of visual perception when there is sufficient brightness and is performed via the cones in our eye. This enables us to recognize colors. Since the concentration of cones is highest in the foveal area, daytime vision also has high visual acuity.
