How we made cool bags from our fair stand

What happens to a fair stand after the last visitors have gone? Trade fair appearances are a commitment that are high in terms of material and resources. We therefore asked ourselves how we can make our trade fair architecture more sustainable.
One aspect for us is recyclability. Since Light+Building 2018, we've been constructing our stand from a modular framework made of wood that can be reassembled for every new fair. The structure of the stand is covered with printed banners. As large-format motifs, the banners fulfilled their purpose at the trade exhibition. For us though this does not now mean that they're obsolete.

Thanks to upcycling, old becomes new

In cooperation with the Elbe-Werkstätten , a Hamburg-based company that supports people with disabilities, we make more out of the banners from our past fair stands. Lovingly handcrafted and unusual carrier bags in ERCO design are created, each one being a great-looking and unique piece. We were able to make over 700 bags from the 2018 Light & Building stand.

With this campaign we're pleased to make a contribution that supports both people with disabilities and the responsible utilisation of resources. Our next fair stand will once again create exciting motifs to be used as bags.
