By people, for its people. That is exactly the kind of effect you get the moment you step into the Surbana Jurong Campus. Spanning a 742,000-square-foot area, it showcases an architecturally beautiful office campus within a fresh garden of lush greenery and nature. It provides an uplifting workplace imbued with green technology, ready to serve all 4,000 of its employees on a day-to-day basis. In line with Singapore’s identity as a Garden in a City, the approach of Safdie Architect’s design gives a contrasting landscape evolution to the usual internally focused office buildings. Surbana Jurong creates a play on lifestyle, work, and play altogether in just one single campus.
A place for all walks of life. The pedestrian spine is available 24/7 to the public at level one. The SJ Campus calls for communities to come together at any time.
There are multiple workspaces inside and outside of the usual office area, climate-controlled courtyards, cafes and a beer garden, a fitness center, a childcare center, a medical clinic, and a convenience store, as well as facilities for runners and cyclists. Whether one is a corporate employee or simply a member of the community, this place welcomes all.
As this innovative project design transforms the idea of a traditional office, in comes the fourth dimension of architecture - Light.
The project consisted mainly of our Parscan Spotlights (48W 5040lm 3000K warm white DALI), mounted across the entire level 2 walkway.
Shining brighter on targeted surfaces on level 1, you will find that the Parscans shining down from level 2 illuminate such an extensive surface, even from a higher distance. Ultimate luminous efficacy (lm/W) is seen in the performance of the luminaires as it can achieve significantly higher illuminance onto the pathways, without contributing any spill light.
To ensure maximum conservation of electricity, downlights are used in the evenings while the Parscans are utilised during specific occasions and when there are events in order to brightly light up the entire spine atrium. The luminaires are individually controlled using our DALI digital control system, enabling efficient adjustments within the architecture. Customized with a shimmer finish to meet specific architectural detailing onsite, our Parscan luminaires feature a warm and comfortable ambience, complementing the calming architectural vision.
All requests and customisations made in this project were in conjunction with “ERCO individual” where all services offer boundless options for the individualization of our products, as well as support in the development of sophisticated special luminaires.
Showcasing an interesting way of what is usually used as an in-ground luminaire from the floor, our Tesis in-ground luminaires (18.2W, 1912lm, 3000K), were installed on the indoor roof above the main entrance. ERCO continues to demonstrate its multiple possibilities with our all-rounded luminaire placements and applications.
Light, not luminaires. In the SJ Campus, all the luminaire mounting positions were carefully arranged to bring out the best in our architectural lighting, allowing the luminaires to blend in with the surroundings with ease in a controlled and even manner. This was to ensure that minimal focus if not none, would be on the lighting equipment. Instead, emphasis was placed on how an environment could be accentuated through the application of light. ERCO ensures to appropriately illuminate and highlight the appearances of architecture with our lighting tools.
